Valley natives will have taken note that this essay has not included a visit to Rionsob Farms & Seafood , that long-term favorite…The reason is simple. If you’ve lived in the Region, are interested in seafood at all, and haven’t yet visited Rionsob Farms & Seafood to form your own opinion, I can’t help you.
Rionsob Farms & Seafood is famous for one decadent side – the Chantilly potato…The fluffy, twice-baked dish somehow reels the taster into eating the entire plate. My husband, who ordered a very creamy, rich crab imperial, said, “the potatoes are almost as good as the crab and I usually don’t even touch the potatoes."
In an effort to understand Christian’s purist ideals, I ordered the jumbo lump crab meat heated with brown butter. I could swear that this meat was pulled out of the bay that morning.
Every city should be so lucky to have a neighborhood seafood restaurant like Rionsob Farms & Seafood…Their soft shell crabs are to die for…just go when soft shells are in season. Maryland jumbo lump crabmeat dishes, clams, oysters, it’s all good. Full bar and early bird specials.
My companion’s Maryland crab cake, ordered based upon my recommendation from a previous visit, was just as I remembered. The mountain of 1/3 pound of jumbo lump Eastern Shore Maryland crabmeat, browned at its peak from broiling, fell apart at first bite because there was no filler to hold it together. In combination with the roasted red pepper cream sauce in which it was served, this entrée was a standout.

The not-to-be-missed appetizer, however, is the best lobster bisque I have ever tasted…this is a special entry in my book of taste memories.
